Directions from the Route 1 and Campus Drive entrance to the Xfinity Visitor Lot (closest to CBCB):

  • Take the right lane into campus and make first right turn onto Paint Branch Drive
  • Continue straight, passing 3 stop signs, look for visitor parking signs on your left
  • Make a left into the Xfinity Visitor Lot and park in any numbered space in this visitor lot

From Xfinity Visitor Parking Lot to CBCB:

  • The closest visitor parking lot to CBCB is the Xfinity Visitor Lot. It is on Paint Branch Drive (PLEASE NOTE: CBCB has moved to the Iribe Center building)
  • From this visitor lot, walk south along Paint Branch Drive
  • The Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Engineering will be on your left shortly after crossing Stadium Drive and passing the A.V. Williams Building
  • CBCB has moved and is now located on the third floor of the Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Engineering

By Automobile

All directions below take you to the main entrance on Route 1 and Campus Drive.

From Baltimore and Points North

I-95 South to Exit 25, U.S. 1 South Go two miles south on U.S. Route 1.

From Points South

I-95 North to Exit 25, U.S. 1 South Go two miles south on U.S. Route 1.

From Bowie/Annapolis

U.S. 50 to the Capital Beltway (I-95) North Exit Beltway at Exit 25, U.S. 1 South; go two miles south on U.S. Route 1.

From Points West

I-495 North to Exit 25 Go two miles south on U.S. Route 1

From Washington, D.C.

Take 16th St. North to Georgia Ave. North (U.S. 97); go about 1/4 mile to Capital Beltway (I-495) East; get off at Exit 25, U.S. 1 South; continue 2 miles on U.S. Route 1.

By Train

Amtrak trains service the Washington Metropolitan area. Call 1-800-872-7245 for automated information on schedules and rates. The closest station to the University is New Carrollton; you will need to take a taxi to the campus (approx. $15). If you arrive at Union Station in Washington D.C. you may take the Metrorail to College Park. Take the Red line towards Silver Spring to Fort Totten; change to the Green line (towards Greenbelt) get off at the College Park, University of Maryland Station. The campus shuttle bus #104 departs the Metro station on a regular basis. Click for schedules and more information about ShuttleUM and transportation at UMD.

The MARC train offers public transportation from Union Station and Washington D.C. to Baltimore's Camden Station on WEEKDAYS only. It's a short walk from The College Park MARC station to the College Park Metro station. From the Metro station, use the #104 ShuttleUM to campus.

By Air

The University is close to three major airports: Reagan National, Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall and Dulles International.

All three airports are served by taxi, van and rental car companies.

Reagan National Airport (DCA) is located approximately 15 miles from the University. Driving time is approximately 40 minutes. Taxi fare is approximately $45

Metrorail from Reagan National

You can take Metrorail from DCA. Take the yellow line toward Fort Totten and get off at L'Enfant Plaza, then transfer to the green line toward Greenbelt. Get off at the College Park, University of Maryland Station. Then take the #104 ShuttleUM to campus.

Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is located approximately 25 miles from the University. Driving time is approximately 35 minutes. Taxi fare is approximately $40.

Metrobus from BWI Marshall

Take the B30 Metrobus Shuttle to the Greenbelt Metrorail station on the green line. Take the Metrorail toward Branch Avenue and get off at the College Park University of Maryland Metro station (the next stop). Then take the #104 ShuttleUM to campus.

Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located approximately 37 miles from the University. Driving time is approximately 60 minutes. Taxi fare is approximately $90.

Metrobus and Metrorail from Dulles

Bus service is available to take you to the West Falls Church Metrorail where you will take the Orange line toward New Carrollton. Transfer at L'Enfant Plaza to the Green line towards Greenbelt. Get off at College Park, University of Maryland Station. Then take the #104 ShuttleUM to campus.
